CHARLES HUDSON NAMED PRESIDENT OF AUBURN UNIVERSITY FOUNDATION

The Auburn University Foundation Board has named Charles Hudson, a 1950 AU graduate in Business Administration, as its president.

“I am confident that Dr. Hudson will make an excellent foundation board president,” said AU President Ed Richardson. “His experience and knowledge of the university make him a good choice to succeed Sally Jones Hill.”

An AU Foundation Board member from 1987-93 and from 2000 to the present, Hudson assumed the position of president of the Foundation Board on Oct. 1. He previously served the board as chair of the Administrative and Finance Committee.

A native of LaGrange, Ga., Hudson is vice president of Hutchinson-Traylor Insurance Agency and chairman of the board of Hammond, Hudson & Holder. He has served as vice president of Callaway Foundation, Fuller E. Callaway Foundation and Callaway Education Association and has served on the board of the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art.

By attending Auburn, Hudson followed in the footsteps of his father, who was one of the first members of the university band. At Auburn, Hudson became a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon.
Hudson has shown continuing commitment to promoting the growth of AU through both his service and his generous donations, and in 1992 was awarded an honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters.

Hudson succeeds Sally Jones Hill as the president of the Auburn University Foundation. Hill served as president for the maximum two consecutive terms, from Oct. 1, 2004, to Sept. 30, 2006.
