Tiger Transit LED Sign Submission Policy

The Tiger Transit LED provides information to riders via a wireless real time network. Messages of interest to AU students will be broadcast throughout the day.

The system was designed and built by students and faculty in the departments of Computer Science and Software Engineering, and Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering. This is not a commercial product – it was designed and built at Auburn University. Verizon Wireless provides the phones and wireless service at no charge.

Messages are chosen for inclusion on the buses based on applicability to the entire university community and the limits of the devices. These messages are sent through the Office of Communications and Marketing.

Please note that items on the campus calendar will automatically be broadcast. Information or announcements submitted for consideration will be subject to editing.

To receive consideration, submit items and events to ledsign@auburn.edu

Your email should include:
Who
What
Where
When – date and time
Your contact information in case of questions about the submission.

Messages will be subject to the following considerations:

1. Messages should have broad, campus-wide appeal.

2. Events should be open to all students and important to the student community. If not open to all students, the event should be available and of interest to a large cross-segment of AU students.

3. Events must be held on the AU campus or in the AU community. Announcements of off-campus events can be published only if there is a strong University connection.

4. Events not funded by Student Activity Fees may be deemed inappropriate for broadcasting.

5. Edited items will appear onscreen as deemed appropriate.

6. Announcements should be submitted two working days in advance.
