AU GRADUATE NAMED CO-OP STUDENT OF THE YEAR
AUBURN -- David C. Last, a recent graduate in electrical and computer
engineering from the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering at Auburn University,
was named 2006 Co-op Student of the Year in the four-year college division
at the Alabama Association of Colleges and Employers (AACE) annual conference
in Florence, Ala. Last is from Moulton, Ala., and was a co-op student
with Adtran, Inc., a Huntsville-based company that develops networking
programs and equipment.
While at Auburn, Last was a member of the National Society of Collegiate
Scholars, the National Deans List and Golden Key. He plans to spend
a year teaching English in China, before returning to the U.S. to pursue
a masters degree in computer engineering or a position with Adtran.
Last years winner of this award, Mark Whitt, was also a graduate
of the Ginn College of Engineering. In 2004, more than 11 percent of students
enrolled in the college were involved with the co-op program.
