ALABAMA MARRIAGE AND FAMILY PROJECT ANNOUNCES GRANT AWARDS

AUBURN - The Alabama Marriage and Family Project (AMFP), part of AU’s Center for Children, Youth, and Families (CCYF) in the College of Human Sciences, has awarded grants totaling $380,000 to 21 non-profit community-based and faith-based organizations in Alabama.

The grants, which range from $10,000 to $25,000 each, will be used to help the recipient programs organize to provide programs and resources that support healthy relationships and marriages, responsible fatherhood, and family stability. In addition to the grant funds, AMFP faculty and staff will also assist the recipients in implementing their programs.

The organizations receiving the AMFP grants are:

* 100 Black Men of Greater Montgomery, Montgomery;
* Alfred Saliba Family Service Center, Dothan;
* CHASM Family Resource Center, Selma;
* Empower Partner for Family and Children's Success Inc., Sylacauga;
* The Enrichment Center, Decatur;
* Faith in Action Outreach, Hayneville;
* Family Counseling Center, Mobile;
* Family Solutions, Tuscaloosa;
* Family Sunshine Center, Montgomery;
* Greater Peace Community Development Corp., Opelika;
* Health and Wellness Education Center, Livingston;
* Heritage Marriage and Family Resource Center, Florence;
* Impact Family Counseling, Birmingham;
* Madison County Healthy Marriage Coalition, Huntsville;
* Parent and Children Together, Decatur;
* Safe Inc., Homewood;
* Southeast Catholic Worldwide Marriage Encounter, Athens;
* Uniontown Cares, Uniontown;
* Washington County Health Council, Chatom;
* Wiregrass Hope Group Inc., Jefferson; and
* Women’s Hope Medical Center, Auburn.

The mission of the AMFP is to engage with faith-based and community-based organizations throughout the state and provide resources through training conferences, on-line technologies, grant fund awards, and direct technical assistance that build overall organizational capacity and the specific capacity to provide programs and services to promote family and community well-being at the grass-roots level.

The AMFP is funded through a federal grant from the Compassion Capital Fund, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and is a partnership among the CCYF, AU Business and Engineering Outreach, the AU Economic Development Institute, the Alabama Cooperative Extension System, and the Alabama Children's Trust Fund.
