AUBURN UNIVERSITY’S COSAM TO HOST AU EXPLORE

AUBURN - The Auburn University College of Science and Mathematics will welcome more than 1,850 students in grades 5-12 and their teachers when it hosts AU Explore, its second annual science and math open house event, on Friday, April 21, from 8:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The event will take place in Auburn’s recently dedicated $40 million Sciences Center.

With interactive, hands-on exhibits, AU Explore is designed to introduce grade-school students to the roles science and math play in everyday lives. Textbook concepts will come alive at AU Explore to captivate students’ curiosity.

At the Science Carnival, students can pet a corn snake, hold a soft shell turtle and see a live bat up close in the Wildlife Pick-n-Pet. Other Carnival activities include games like Science Jeopardy and Microbe Toss, as well as outdoor games and rides. In the Science Fun Shop, they can build telescopes, radios, motors and kaleidoscopes. A close encounter with a screech owl and other demonstrations will be offered at the Raptor Show. Events such Math Explore and Meet the Scientist will help round out this fun and informative day.
