AU SINGERS’ SPRING SHOW DATES SET

AUBURN - Fans of choral music will have five opportunities from April 29-May 1 to see the Auburn University Singers’ annual Spring Show.

Featuring popular and show music - complete with costumes and choreography - the concerts are at Telfair Peet Theatre on Saturday, April 29, at 8 p.m.; Sunday, April 30 at 2:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.; and Monday, May 1, at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Directed by Thomas R. Smith, chair of AU’s music department and director of choral activities, the Singers will perform a variety of songs, including selections made famous by Barry Manilow and the rock group Styx, show tunes from Broadway smashes like “State Fair” and “Hairspray” and the songs of Disney. Individual and small group talent will also be showcased through a variety of contemporary styles such as country, rock and roll, and inspirational music.

Tickets are $10 and can be reserved by calling the choral office at 844-4194.

The AU Singers, a choral entertainment ensemble of 36 singers and nine instrumentalists, has since 1972 been presenting its own distinct combination of choral sound with choreography designed to enhance performances. The Singers have performed for television, schools, churches, and professional and civic organizations in hundreds of locales worldwide from the Auburn to Warsaw, Poland. Members of the group come from across the country and major in many academic disciplines.
