GRAMBERG NAMED DEAN OF AUS COLLEGE OF LIBERAL ARTS AUBURN Anne-Katrin Gramberg, chair of Auburn Universitys Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures, has been named dean of the AU College of Liberal Arts. Grambergs appointment by AU Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs John Heilman culminates a national search by a committee chaired by Stewart Schneller, dean of AUs College of Sciences and Mathematics. Dr. Gramberg is a dynamic and energetic educator and, as demonstrated during her tenure as chair of her department, a highly qualified administrator, said Heilman. She is respected by peers and by students. Im convinced the College of Liberal Arts will flourish under her leadership. Gramberg came to Auburn as an assistant professor of German in 1993. She was promoted to associate professor in 1997 and to full professor in 2002. She has been chair of her department since 2001. While at Auburn, Gramberg has been particularly devoted to minority and womens issues. Among other such activities, she has served on an advisory council to the AU president on the status of women and minorities, the Diversity Leadership Council, the Faculty Retention Committee on Women and Minorities and the Advisory Board to the Center for Diversity and Race Relations. Gramberg received her masters degree from Georg-August-Universitaet in Gottingen, Germany, and her doctorate in German from Michigan State University.
