‘LOVE ISN’T ALWAYS ENOUGH’ EXHIBIT TO FEATURE WORKS OF AU FINE ART FACULTY

AUBURN - Summer exhibitions in Auburn University’s Biggin Gallery will open with a reception Thursday, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., in 101 Biggin Hall to introduce “Love Isn’t Always Enough,” an exhibition of sculpture, drawing, etching, mixed media painting and installations by four AU fine art adjunct faculty members.

The artists for this exhibition are Jonathan Byler, Clare Frank Hairstans, Debora Myles and William Dunlop. The exhibition will continue through July 27.

Jonathan Byler came to AU in 2004 and provides oversight for the art department’s 3-D Art Building workshops. He joined the art department’s adjunct faculty in spring 2007 and teaches three-dimensional design for fine art and graphic design. Byler has a master of fine art degree from University of Wisconsin, Madison, with a specialty in sculpture.

Clare Frank Hairstans has a master of fine art degree from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Dallas. Hairstans, whose work consists primarily of copper engraving, teaches classes in two-dimensional design and drawing. Her work has been exhibited in Sixty Square Inches, a competitive exhibition at Purdue University and at the Parkside National Print Exhibition at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.

Debora Myles has a master of fine art degree from AU where she teaches classes in two-dimensional design, drawing, painting and figure drawing. Her work has been exhibited in an exhibition in New York City juried by Donald Kuspit; the Southeastern College Art Conference Members Only exhibition; the Meridian Museum of Art in Mississippi; and the LaGrange National Biennial XXI in LaGrange, Ga.

William Dunlop received his bachelor of fine art degree from Corcoran College of Art and Design and has taught at AU for 10 years. His original concentration was sculpture, but he now focuses on painting. His work has been exhibited at the Columbus and Mobile museums of art and in two LaGrange national biennial juried exhibitions. His work is on exhibit at MDH Fine Arts in New York City.
