AU ARCHITECTURE STUDENT DIES IN CAR ACCIDENT
AUBURN -- Shelly Martin, a second-year Auburn University architecture student from Trussville, Ala., was killed in a traffic accident Sunday in Marion, Ala.
Martin, who was studying at the Rural Studio, was driving to meet friends for a picnic, when she was involved in a two-vehicle accident on Alabama 5 around 1:25 p.m., according to Marion Police Chief Tony Bufford.
She was an active member of Phi Mu sorority.
Martin's survivors include her parents Ralph and Leslie Martin of Oxford; her brother Todd Martin and his wife, Brooke, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and her brother Joel, who is a senior in education at Auburn.
Visitation for Martin will be Tuesday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville. Funeral services will be at the same location on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
