AUBURN
UNIVERSITY STUDENTS TO COMPETE ON mtvU REALITY SHOW
AUBURN - Four Auburn University undergraduate students will team up against
peers from the University of Alabama on mtvUs new reality-show series
Quad Squads.
The students - marketing majors Megan Moore (Auburn High School) and Tracy
Miller (Opelika High School); public relations major Lance Ingram (Huntsville
High School) and mass communications major Vincent Harris (Ramsay High
School/Birmingham) - were selected for the team by AU faculty.
The team will appear on four episodes of the AU-UA Quad Squads academic
challenge to air the weeks of Feb. 6, Feb. 20, March 13 and April 3.
In the first segment, which airs Feb. 6 at noon Central time on MTVs
mtvU network, the AU team receives its challenge: Using a budget of $2,500,
create an event that ties Snickers into the Snickers Satisfies message
on campus and that could be translated for use on college campuses nationwide.
Auburns team will hold its event on campus February 28.
Auburn University and the University of Alabama were pitted against each
other because of their longstanding athletic rivalry. The progress made
by each schools team will be featured in later segments.
The winner will be chosen during the filming of the last segment when
the teams make their presentations to a group of Snickers (Masterfoods)
executives who will judge the six-week long competition. The winning team
members each receive a $2,500 scholarship and a years supply of
Snickers.
MTVs channel mtvU airs on college campuses nationwide. The show
also airs on mtvU.com, a broadband channel.
Auburn University is a preeminent land-grant and comprehensive research
institution
with more than 23,000 students and 6,500 faculty and staff. Ranked among
the top 50 public universities nationally, Auburn is Alabamas largest
educational institution, offering more than 230 undergraduate, graduate
and doctoral degree programs.
