QUINN TO ADDRESS 2ND ANNUAL SPRING SYMPOSIUM AT AU

AUBURN -- Jane Bryant Quinn, one of the nation's leading commentators on personal finance, will speak at the Women's Philanthropy Board Spring Symposium at Auburn University on April 21.

The second annual event at The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center will begin at 9 a.m., and end at 2 p.m.

A regular columnist for Good Housekeeping and Newsweek magazines, Quinn is the author of the best-seller Making the Most of Your Money, a comprehensive guide to planning your personal finances.

Her book, Jane Bryant Quinn's Money Book, was a Book of the Month Club Selection and also a bestseller.

Quinn also helped develop Quicken Financial Planner, a top-selling software program,

Also a television personality, Quinn worked for 10 years for CBS News, first on the CBS Morning News, then on the Evening News with Dan Rather. In 1988, she hosted her own program on personal finance, a series called Take Charge! that ran on the Public Broadcasting System. She is a frequent guest on Good Morning America, Nightline and other TV programs.

Formerly, Quinn was co-founder, editor and general manager of the McGraw-Hill Personal Finance Letter, a sophisticated newsletter of financial advice. She was a reporter and co-editor of The Insider's Newsletter, a consumer newsletter formerly published by Look magazine.

A frequent speaker and panelist at business conventions and universities, Quinn is a spokesperson to all generations on how to handle their money and how to protect themselves in difficult times. She received a bachelor's degree from Middlebury College where she graduated magna cum laude.

In addition to Quinn, several other speakers will also provide expert advice on topics related to women's leadership.

The Women's Philanthropy Board is a constituent of the AU College of Human Sciences and has more than 80 members.
