MILITARY
ROBOTICS EXPERT TO DISCUSS COMBAT ROBOTICS
AUBURN - Col. Terry W. Griffin, project manager for the Army and Marine
Corps Robotic Systems Joint Project office at Redstone Arsenal, will discuss
the use of robotic systems in Iraq, Afghanistan and other combat situations
on April 28 at 2 p.m. in 238 Broun Hall.
Griffins presentation will include discussion of current and future
ground robotic systems, joint robotic operations of Operation Enduring
Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom, the militarys ground robotic
master plan and current technology needs.
A 1976 Auburn graduate, Griffin has served in a Huey-Cobra light attack
helicopter squadron; in operational command elements as an executive officer
or squadron commander; and as commander of a Reserve Marine Air Group
in Philadelphia, where he activated a CH-53E squadron in response to Operation
Enduring Freedom.
Griffin has served in a variety of other assignments, including training
flight instructors and students in the Naval Air Training Command, and
completing two staff assignments at Headquarters Marine Corps in Washington,
D.C.
Griffin received his masters degree in business administration from
Averett College in 1993. His personal awards include the Navy Achievement
Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal, two Meritorious Service Medals and
two Legions of Merit.
