AUBURN – Auburn University’s Samuel Ginn College of Engineering’s entry into the North American Solar Car Challenge, Sol of Auburn, was second in the stock class at the most recent checkpoint (Sioux Falls, S.D.) of the world’s longest (2,500 miles) solar car race.

The race began Sunday, July 17 in Austin, Texas, and will end in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Sol of Auburn was only seven minutes behind CalSol, the entry of the University of California-Berkeley, and 36 minutes ahead of the third-place car, Stanford University’s Solstice.

A video feed of footage from the competition as the cars reach the Canadian border will be available via satellite on Friday, July 22, from 11 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. CDT. Here are the coordinates for that feed:
