THIRD ANNUAL 'SOUNDS OF AUBURN' CONCERT SET NOV. 20
AUBURN -- More than 500 student musicians will perform during the third annual Sounds of Auburn concert on Nov. 20 at the Student Activities Center on the Auburn University campus.
The free concert, which is open to the public, will begin at 7:30 p.m.
The 90-minute concert will feature AU Music Department ensembles from the Concert Choir, Jazz Band, Symphonic Band, Steel Drum Band, University Singers and the AU Marching Band.
The AU Gospel Choir, under the direction of William Powell, is making its first performance on the program.
Other conductors for the Sounds of Auburn will be Thomas R. Smith, chair of the Department of Music and director of Choral Activities, conducting the Concert Choir and University Singers; Johnnie Vinson, director of Bands, conducting the Symphonic Band; Rick Good, associate director of Bands, conducting the Marching Band; and Troy Breaux, assistant director of Bands, conducting the Jazz Ensemble and the Steel Drum Band.
Master of Ceremonies for the event will be Lee Miller of New York City, an associate producer for NBC's Today Show. Miller, a 1999 AU graduate, sang in the Concert Choir, Vocal Chamber Ensemble and University Singers while he was a student at Auburn.
