Mayberry will read and sign copies of their new book, Where Will We Be When We Get Where We're Going?, on Wednesday, Sept. 15, from 6-8 p.m. in room 217 of the James E. Foy Student Union on the Auburn University campus. The event is sponsored by the Auburn University Center for Diversity and Race Relations, the Auburn University Bookstore and the Alabama Center for the Book. Where Will We Be When We Get Where We're Going?, published this year, is the true story of a remarkable encounter between two men, diverse in age, race and background, who find common ground in the wisdom of friendship. The book's message is that trust is at the heart of all quality human interaction. Warren, a first-time author, and Mayberry, a retired dean from Tuskegee University, recount their meeting and the development of respect and affection that mark their friendship. The book has received wide attention and is turning up in seminars on mentoring and community relations, as well as on the must-read lists of college presidents, retired generals and many others. The book was written to encourage people to respect and honor the humanity of their fellow man. The event is free and open to the public. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing immediately following the program. Refreshments will be provided. Parking is available next to Foy Union.
