<One of the more interesting features of the new AU Sciences Center
is a glassblowing shop for making test tubes, beakers and other glassware.
Here, Wendell Sandlin shows President Ed Richardson how he adds a
handle to a beaker. |

The AU College of Sciences and Mathematics
is giving its students an opportunity to become leaders in their fields
through its new 140,000 square foot Sciences Center. The new center
will enable the university and its students to play a major role in
addressing the world's needs in food production, medicine, the environment
and health. More than 5,000 students used the facility each day.
In the fall of 2005, COSAM had the largest enrollment in its history,
2,500 students, and the incoming freshman class was the largest of
any college on the AU campus.
