Kelly
Alley is alumni professor of anthropology and chair of the
Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Social Work at Auburn
University. She received her bachelor's degree from Cornell University
and her Ph.D. in anthropology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison
in 1990. Alley has carried out research in northern India for over 16
years, focusing on public culture, environmental and water resource
issues. Her book, titled "On the Banks of the Ganga: When Wastewater
Meets a Sacred River," (University of Michigan Press, 2002) explores
Hindu interpretations of the sacred river Ganga in light of current
environmental problems and was used in a recent NPR series on the river
Ganga. She is the author of numerous book chapters and articles on
religion and ecology and environmental law and justice in India and the
U.S. |

Jill
Crystal is a professor in the Department of Political Science at Auburn
University. She received her master's degree and Ph.D. from Harvard
University and her bachelor's degree from Cornell University. She
is the author of two books -- "Oil and Politics in the Gulf"
(Cambridge University Press, 1995) and "Kuwait: the Transformation
of an Oil State" (Westview, 1992) -- and several articles and

Yasser
Gowayed is an associate professor of textile engineering at
Auburn University. He received his Ph.D. from North Carolina State
University, his master's degree from the American University in Cairo
and his bachelor's degree from Ain Shams University in Egypt. He lived
and worked in several countries in the Middle East and he is actively
involved in scientific and cultural exchanges between the U.S. and
the Middle East. |
